Mt Dandenong Burkes Lookout via Fireline, Camelia, Zig Zag and Kyeema Tracks

A moderately challenging but lovely hike near the top of Mt Dandenong through tall mountain ash forest and abundant bird life. On a clear day you get a panoramic view from Burkes Lookout across the Eastern suburbs all the way to the CBD and beyond to the Macedon ranges.

We start at the parking area near Kapi Arts Space Kalorama, head down Fireline Track, on to Camelia track then up Zig Zag Track and finish the loop on Kyeema Track back to our starting point. The total distance is about 12km, with total elevation gain of about 450m.

Expect continuous moderate hills mainly on Camelia and Zig Zag Tracks and some undulations on the other tracks. There are a couple of short sections of steep downhill on loose gravel near the end of the hike, so good shoes and poles are recommended.
