Twin Falls Loop &
"Best of All" Lookout
Springbrook Nat. Park QLD
Springbrook National Park in the hinterland of the Gold Coast has plenty to offer. A rest day from the week long SGA Championships very well spent exploring Twin Falls, Blackfellow Falls, Purling Brook Falls, hiking through ancient Antartic Beeches, Strangler Figs, Best of All Lookout” and amazing vistas across the National Park to Surfers Paradise and Pacific Ocean in the distance.
Both waterfalls have a ledge behind the falls and the trail goes behind the falls.
While in the area, take a short drive, plus a short walk to "Best of All" Lookout. Passing several large Antartic Beeches, you get to a panoramic view across Springbrook National Park to the Pacific Ocean.

TIPS:
We strongly recommend to do the Twin Falls & Black Fellow Falls hike not as an Out & Back walk as suggested on Alltrails, but as a loop going clockwise starting on the top ridge and working your way around the loop by going down to the base of both falls. This way you get very close to the falls and actually walk behind them. There is also a cool swimming spot at the base of Twin Falls. This loop is only about 6 to 7 km but there are some steps and slopes to negotiate.
On the drive back down, Purlingbrook Falls is directly enroute and only 7 minutes away. Definitely worth the short walk out to the lookout. If you have time you might also want to do the Purlingbrook Falls Circuit. Unfortunately we did not have time other than to get to the falls lookout.

Coomera Falls &
Lamington Nat. Park QLD
Coomera Falls Circuit at Lamington National Park is for hard core waterfall chasers. The trail takes you through a rich diversity of tree species, particularly the impressive Ancient Antartic Beech, Strangler Figs, Hoop Pine and Booyong. The trail is not for the unsuspecting tourist in sneakers after just an Insta shot. Only die hard hiking tragics would enjoy this jaunt on slippery clay, rocks, mud and exposed roots and sneaky ground level vines. A wonderful winter morning enjoying this gorgeous rainforest, lovely waterfall and entertained by constant bird song.
TIPS:
The trail head is about an hour's drive from Surfers' Paradise. Parking spaces are limited so do start early on weekends. The Binna Burra Tea House located right at the main car park is definitely worth a refreshment stop. From the elevated rear terrace you get a great view of Springbrook National Park, including Advancetown Lake.
