About the event
This hike starts at the Moonbulk Creek Retarding Basin and continues to loop on several trails including Blackwood Walk, Abrahams Track, Gully Track, Granite Track and Dargon Track.
We will be walking through a mix of remnant native vegetation and plantation forest of River Red Gum, Southern Mahogany, Spotted Gum, Swamp Gum, Blue Gum, Forest Red Gum, Long-leaved Box and Sugar Gum. There are a few gentle to moderate hills which should be manageable with basic fitness, with an elevation gain of about 250m over 10km.
Please have adequate hydration and sun protection according to the day's weather. We will make a brief rest stop at the granites where you could bring some snacks to have while enjoying the scenery.
The area is home to a large range of fauna also including 140 different species of birds, eastern grey kangaroos, black wallabies, koalas, and echidnas.
